Warmer weather, brighter colours and cold fresh lemonade for months on end can only mean one thing: Summer has arrived! Whilst you might change your wardrobe to deal with the heat during the longer days don’t forget to also update your interior to match the changing seasons. The bathroom is one of the easiest rooms to update so here are our top 5 tips to getting it ready for Summer.
- Colourful Towels Aren’t Just For The Beach
One of the easiest updates you can make is to swap out your current bathroom towels and dressing gowns to opt for brighter, colourful and more breathable alternatives. Linen is a great choice if you’re looking for lightweight and quick drying material otherwise choose cotton for a maximum softness. Don’t forget to look for patterns and prints to get in the Summer spirit.
2. Paint The Bath, Paint The Tiles, Paint The Door
All of our cast iron baths are available either painted or primed, ready for you to paint yourself. If you’re looking for a colour that works across all seasons opt for a light shade such as Cinder Rose or Calluna, both from Farrow & Ball, which add a pop of colour but are also fairly neutral. If you’re looking for a new DIY project and already own one of our cast iron baths why not re-paint it! You could also look at painting your tiles, cupboard doors and even the inside of the bathroom door which could easily be given a lift with a quick splash of colour. The opportunities are endless.
Top Tip: A pop of pastel is perfect for Summer and can be easily painted over when Winter comes back around.
3. Potty For Plants
Another easy Summer update is to introduce plants into the bathroom. The bathroom is often overlooked when it comes to choosing a spot for your favourite vase and bunch of flowers but what better way to enjoy fresh roses than when sitting in the bath. Opt for colours on the opposite side of the colour wheel to your current colour scheme to create contrast and an eye-catching feature. 4. Accessories, Accessories, Accessories!
Affordable and easily changeable, accessories are a great way of getting your bathroom summer ready. Why not collect some seashells from beaches you’ve visited whilst on holiday to use as decorations dotted around your basin or swap your current shower curtain and bath mats for ones that are more vibrant or patterned. Lastly, don’t forget to update your bathroom scent to something soft and simple like this Lime Basil & Mandarin scent from Jo Malone, a beautiful accessory in it’s own right.
5. A Case For Chrome
Finally, opting for a chrome finish for any metal products or accessories such as heated towel rails or robe hooks will make your bathroom brighter and lighter. Chrome is known for its reflective properties and so not only will it bounce light around the room but will reflect all the colours from your new Summer bathroom.
