Case Study | Forter Castle

Forter Castle stands in the natural beauty of Glen Isla, the most Westerly of the Scottish Angus Glens.

Originally built in 1560 by James Ogilvy, the castle is not only rich in beauty but rich in history too. It was left in a ruinous state for many decades after being plundered by the Earl of Argyll in 1640, but has since been painstakingly rebuilt using traditional materials and methods to an historically accurate representation of its former glory.

Designer Katharine Pooley led the internal refurbishment, transforming the interiors in a way that was sensitive to traditional design but with the luxury and comfort of the finest modern amenities. Two stunning master bathrooms in the project feature Drummonds’ Spittal freestanding showers, which like all Drummonds products, combine traditional manufacturing techniques and classic design with technical innovation.
