News | Drummonds KLC Design Competition 2015

We have been amazed yet again by the fantastic submissions for this year’s design competition, which we held for the second time with KLC School of Design. The challenge for 2015 was to reimagine the shower environment with a focus on designing an original shower tray.

The real challenge was to remove the preconception that the shower tray is a purely functional item within the bathroom, and to realise the opportunity for creating something both functional and beautiful. We wanted to see something unique with the potential to be a stand-out, feature piece in a luxury bathroom space.

With over 50 entries from designers in training across all levels of the school, the quality of each and every design was very impressive. Concepts ranged from enclosures resembling the Eden project, a haven of tranquillity around the shower, to more minimalist, angular pieces. We were most impressed by the wealth of inspiration behind the designs which came from a wide range of sources, from fashion and beauty to the natural world.

In 2013 we were pleased to bring to fruition the Morar bath, designed for Drummonds by KLC student Victoria Richmond. This year we would like to commend the following students whose exceptional work will form a part of the re-design of Drummonds’ classic Spittal & Severn showers for 2015:

Harriet Hughes
Natalie O’Neill
Beatrice Dall’Ollio
Helene Helleu
Kayleigh Findlay
