Showroom News | Sipsmith’s Summer Cup: The Perfect Summer Sip

London Design Festival

Sam Galsworthy and Fairfax Hall, the lifelong friends and spirits experts are the founders of the artisan distillery Sipsmith based in Hammersmith. Inspired by London and its long history with gin, the pair are passionate about their aim to ‘bring the art and craft of handmade gin back to London’, the home of gin. Their 300 litre copper-pot still, named ‘Prudence’, is the first to launch in London for nearly 200 years and it was designed with Germany’s oldest distillery producers, Christian Carl.

Sipsmith’s Summer Cup is based on their award winning London Dry Gin and is blended with a host of summery ingredients such as infusions of Earl Grey tea, lemon verbena, cardamom, orange and cucumber.

The garnishes for the Summer Cup are simple – the team at Sipsmith have found that sliced orange, strawberries, a slice of cucumber, and a sprig of mint works well and create a deliciously refreshing and sophisticated summer gin sip.

For the perfect serve:
1. Fill a wine glass with ice
2. Add a generous serve of Sipsmith Summer cup (35ml)
3. Top with lemonade
4. Garnish with a simple slice of lemon.

If you like something spicier try ginger ale or ginger beer. If that’s too spicy for your tastes – a 50:50 mix of lemonade and ginger beer could be perfect for you.

This delicious gin based drink is a summery interpretation of English “cups” from the 1800’s, the quintessentially Great British Summer drink.

Deliciously refreshing and bursting with natural flavours with rich orange, fresh cucumber and delicate tea notes on the nose. On the palate, the bold juniper and zesty citrus notes of the gin are complimented by aromatic spices and hints of cherry, with the subtle tannins of the tea delivering a long, flavourful, yet refreshingly dry finish.

Summer Cup will be served at our launch party for the new Drummonds King’s Road showroom which will be held in association with House & Garden on Wednesday 11th June 2014 with live music and a bar hosted by Sipsmith.
